In a little while

I'll be gone.
mi familia

Sunny porch farewell. Before a stop to where it always shines. The perfect gateway to finding my way in unknown streets and big cities.

The stairs are worth climbing. The bar to ourselves. Margaritas por favor. We came here to laugh.

An Octopus named Prince

Anna had me fly up to New York to help her with the shoot for her show in March and some Frye stuff.
It was long overdue that we work on something creative together.

The first few nights we stayed in the city. Highlights include the two story Trader Joe's, where we bought ingredients for girls night such as the makings for stove popped corn and pomegranate margaritas, next was a night out with the boys from sweden in which I couldn't get enough of Pippi Långstrump, the food and drinks were pretty tasty as well.

We played a little more than planned the night before our big trip to the Hamptons.
Rest was caught en route and we made it just in time for the light we needed with the water warmed for our arrival.

I went with Megan in Charlotte before we came up to get all the outfits and makeup picked out.

So everything fell into place and it was really just a fun vacation.

I can't post any of the photos for the show yet but I'll probably put a link to them in a few months.

5 year

I don't know why it took me 23 years to see live music on my Birthday. It is the obvious activity. This years day brought a lovely balance of music, friends and delicious food.
I guess it was the first one in a while where I made the choices without that sister of mine that shares the same special day.

We drove up to Pittsboro where piedmont biofuels was hosting a little live music day.
In between the sets they took us on a tour and I felt like Charlie in the chocolate factory. A warm June day learning about environmental science?! This is what Birthdays are made of!

After that we hopped over to Raleigh, where 3 of my dearest guys were playing with their band Uncle Mountain.  Before the show we had a fancy dinner at zely and ritz.

The next day I set up a sundae assembly. We made cherry and blueberry sauce, melted chocolate and whipped up some cream. I knew I didn't want a late night party just for the sake of celebration.

Seeing my friends in the bright sunlight fulfilled my party vision. We sipped on iced passion tea and squeezed limes and oranges for mimosas.

Without really meaning to, I became Alice. I made my apron for a costume years ago and I made the crown from pipe cleaners, yarn and a spray painted ballon.

It was a very merry unBirthday to me.

Later in the evening we went to the Milestone to see yet another show of friends playing good music.

My roommate told me my present would be in the dining room when I got home. By the time I returned I had forgotten all about it and wondered aloud who had left their beautiful vintage bicycle. My bike was stolen the first night she had moved in and she managed to find the perfect replacement.

My ice cream cake did not survive the road trip and I forgot to light some candles atop something sweet. Though considering that was the only thing missing from my Birthday adventures I guess I'll be fine to make up for it with 24 candles and a good wish this next June!
